The Autumn programme of films showing in the Village Hall is as follows:
Great Expectations (12A) on Saturday 12 October. The latest film version of Dickens's
classic starring Ralph Fiennes and Helena Bonham-Carter is rich in dramatic intensity and
period flair with its tale of the orphan Pip brought up to be a gentleman by the fortune of a
mysterious stranger. (128 mins)
Mud (12A) on Saturday 9 November. Starring Matthew McConaughy and Reese Witherspoon
this thriller and exhilarating coming of age story follows two teenage boys who help a
fugitive, called Mud, reunite with his old girlfriend but when her abuser is killed relatives
come looking for revenge. (130 mins)
The Great Gatsby (12A) on Saturday 7 December. Set in the decadent jazz age America of
the 1920s and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan, the film is Baz Lurhman's
dazzling version of F Scott Fitzgerald's classic. (140 mins)
This new venture of professional cinema is in aid of replacing the seats in the Village Hall .
The films shown between January and June were often sold out and pre-booking is strongly
advised. The evenings are a lot of fun with cartoons before the main film and refreshments of
sweets, nuts, ice cream etc and a bar selling wine and soft drinks available both before the
performance and in the interval when teas and coffees are also on sale.
All films start at 7.30pm, seats are £5 unreserved or there are luxury tables of 4 for £40
including front row cushioned seating, complimentary glass of wine and nibbles.
