Parish Church Fund Raising
The church of St Peter and St. Paul is an important focal point of our village.  It is a magnificent historic building of very generous proportion for a church serving a relatively small village.  The cost therefore of keeping our church running efficiently and in good repair is quite high.  During winter 2003 a large proportion of the roof underwent repair costing in excess of £25,000 and whilst a significant proportion of this money has been raised there is still a shortfall of approximately £7,000. During January 2006 a new sound system was installed.  We are sure that people will appreciate the sound improvement. The Next Projects: The church does not have any of the following facilities: The lack of facilities is not only inconvenient but precludes certain members of the church and wider community from attending services and events.  It may also deter any potential users, is a definite barrier to growth and is no longer acceptable. Our Vision for the future: Increase the use of the church building by making it more user friendly and attractive for: Concerts Exhibitions Festivals School & Youth Services Weddings, Baptisms etc. Options: 1. Build a Toilet/Washroom in an underutilised area of the building within strict guidelines set out by the Architect/DAC and approved by the PCC. 2. Build a kitchen/utility area, or convert an existing area, within the building. 3. Constructing an extension to the outside of the building. The Costs: We are currently examining the costing of these projects, but as you can appreciate there will need to be some serious fund raising and grants approved prior to commencement. Any donations to church costs will always be very gratefully received - Please call the treasurer on 01572 724032 for more information. Your donation can be ‘Gift Aided’ if you are a tax payer which increases your donation
